Mild Winter Cycling Pogies
These pogies are designed for windy, damp rides in milder winter conditions. They cover your hands and handlebar controls, with a single layer of 3 mm neoprene to help retain warmth.
They weigh approximately 300-315 g per pair and pack down small. The tops can be folded down for more airflow, so you can adjust them as the weather changes.
Warmth and ventilation
In our experience, these pogies work best in windy, damp weather at around −2 to +5°C / 28–41°F. Comfort depends on your sensitivity to cold, the gloves you wear and how hard you are riding.
You can adjust the openings around your wrists to reduce draughts and keep warmth inside. The openings should still allow your hands to move in and out easily.
If your hands get too warm, you can fold the upper part outwards and down. This allows more airflow while the lower section continues to act as a wind shield.
In colder weather, warmer gloves can add insulation inside the pogies. For regular riding in much colder conditions, our warmer winter pogies provide more insulation.
Handlebar compatibility
The standard pair fits flat and drop handlebars, with the cable limitation described below.
We can also customise a pair for H-bars for an extra 15% of the selected pair’s price. You can contact us before ordering to discuss your setup.
Road shifters with exposed gear cables
Road shifters with gear cables exiting sideways from the levers do not work well with these pogies. This concerns cables that run outside the handlebar tape.
Longer cables and housing may allow you to route them around the pogies, but we cannot guarantee a suitable fit with this arrangement.
Fabrics and weather protection
The outer fabrics are windproof and waterproof. Weather protection of the finished pogies also depends on the seams and openings.
Ecopak, X-Pac and Ultra all offer more than enough durability for normal pogie use. The main differences are feel, weight and appearance.
- ECOPAK™ EPX200 feels softer than X-Pac. It is made by Challenge Outdoor using 100% recycled polyester fibre and film.
- X-PAC® VX21 has a firmer, more structured feel, with similar performance in everyday use.
- ULTRA™ 200X is a lighter fabric with a distinctive woven texture. It is also made by Challenge Outdoor, using a blend of Ultra-PE and polyester, and is not fully recycled.
More fabric and colour information is available on our Fabrics and Colors page.
