Why choose the 7R Seat Pack with Mini Rack?
The Standard Set of a 7R Seat Pack with Mini Rack is the core version of our modular saddle bag system for bikepacking and touring.
It gives you the main benefits of the 7R Saddle bag system at a lower price than the full set: excellent stability, quick removal, waterproof protection, and a much easier user experience in real riding conditions.
This setup works especially well for rough roads, long-distance touring, and smaller bikes where a traditional large saddle bag may feel unstable or sit too close to the rear wheel.
Standard Set includes
- Waterproof sack in 10L, 14L or 17L
- Stainless steel Mini Rack with all necessary straps and attachments
- One seatpost clamp in your chosen size: 27.2, 30.9 or 31.6 mm
You can later expand the system with optional add-ons such as detachable side pouches, a backpack strap, or another sack in a different size.
Why this system works
Modular
This is one of the biggest advantages of the system. The waterproof sack is easy to remove and just as easy to install back onto the Mini Rack. You do not need to re-thread straps through the saddle rails every time.
This is especially valuable in cold, wet, or windy weather, when your fingers are numb, tired, or simply do not want to deal with a strap-heavy setup. For bikepacking and touring, this kind of modularity is a real game changer.
Very stable
The Mini Rack supports the load and keeps the bag controlled. On rough roads the system just vibrates, but it does not sway around like many traditional large saddle bags. The result is a more predictable ride and less annoying movement behind the saddle.
A good solution for many smaller bikes
Because the Mini Rack fixes the position of the bag, it can work on bikes where a classic large seat pack may sit too low or drift toward the rear wheel. This helps reduce the risk of tyre contact and makes the system a much more realistic option for many small frames.
Waterproof
The sack is built to keep your gear dry in rain, dirty road spray, and generally bad weather.
Flexible over time
You can buy another sack separately to cover different needs on different rides. One trip may call for a compact 10L setup, while another may need 14L or 17L. You can also use another sack with the 7R Mini Rack if it suits your setup properly.
Video review
This video shows an older version of our seat pack system. Since then, we have updated the design, and a new video review of the current model is coming soon.
For now, this video still gives a good overview of the idea behind the system and how it works on the bike.
Waterproof sack details
The sack is the removable waterproof part of the system and is available in 10L, 14L, and 17L sizes.
Around the sack, we add a bungee cord net on three sides. It gives you quick external storage for extra layers, rain gear, food, camp items, or anything else you want close at hand.
At the bottom, there is an extra strap for flat lightweight items, such as sandals or flip-flops.
On the sides of the sack, we add webbing panels for detachable pouches, so you can expand the setup later if needed.
We also add reflective details on the sack:
- a reflective 7R logo
- a second reflective symbol inspired by traditional Ukrainian embroidery
These details improve visibility on the roads and feel personal to us because the logo itself also references wheat and bread, which are an important part of Ukrainian culture.
Mini Rack details
The 7R Mini Rack is the structural core of the system.
It consists of:
- a stainless steel console
- a Mini Rack cover made from EPLX400 or Ultra fabric, depending on your chosen version
The rack has a spoon-shaped form that supports the sack properly and helps prevent it from sliding from side to side on rough roads.
Fit, clearance and bike compatibility
This system can be a very good solution for smaller bikes, but the exact fit always depends on the complete bike and saddle setup.
For a 14L sack, a practical starting point is:
- around 10–12 cm of exposed seatpost
- around 18 cm of minimum tyre clearance
But these numbers are only a guideline.
Actual fit depends on:
- saddle position on the rails
- seatpost angle
- frame geometry
- how far back the saddle sits
Because of that, if you have any doubts, please contact us before ordering. A side photo of your bike and a few simple measurements are usually enough for us to advise whether the setup should fit.
Repairability
The sack is field-repair friendly, which is important for travel and long-term use.
Small damage on laminated fabric can often be repaired with UltraTNT™ PSA Tape. Challenge describes it as a waterproof seam and repair tape designed for the film side of fabrics, with especially good bonding to Ultra™ and EPLX™ fabrics. They recommend applying it to a clean, dry surface, pressing it firmly, and allowing about 24 hours for the best adhesion.
Weight
Example weight for the EPLX400 version:
- Mini Rack: 287 g
- Clamp: 113 g
- 14L sack: 180 g
Important note
The 7R Seat Pack with Mini Rack is not compatible with dropper seatposts.
Custom color option
We can make the Seat Pack with Mini Rack | Standard Set in custom color combinations.
Custom price = regular price in the chosen size and fabric + 10%
This is a good option if you want to match the bag to your frame bag, handlebar bag, rack bag or the overall look of your bike.
We charge only a deposit when you choose the Custom option on our website.
Build your setup over time
The Standard Set is a great starting point if you want the key benefits of the 7R seat pack system at a lower price than the full version.
You can always expand it later with:
- detachable side pouches
- backpack strap
- another sack in a different size
That way, you can start with the core system now and adapt it later for longer rides, different weather, or bigger loads.==
