Waterproof modular rear rack top bag system with removable 14L dry bag.
Quick-access pockets • Stable cradle • Easy to remove • Dropper-post friendly • Naturally aero
Why a rack top bag?
A rack top bag is a great middle ground between a saddle bag and panniers.
Compared with a large saddle bag, it is usually more stable and works better with smaller frames, low saddle height, or dropper seatposts.
Compared with panniers, it keeps the bike slimmer and more aerodynamic, with less side movement and less chance of catching branches, walls, or your own legs while pushing the bike.
It is also part of a larger modular rack setup. When you need more carrying capacity, you can add full-size panniers, mini panniers, or side dry bags mounted with cargo cages.
It is a very practical setup for modern bikepacking, especially if you already use a rear rack.
Dropper-post friendly
Because the load sits on the rack and not under the saddle, the PackTrain system is dropper-post friendly.
This makes it a good choice for gravel bikes, hardtails, ATBs and modern adventure bikes where a classic saddle bag may limit seatpost movement or rub the rear tire.
Modular by design
The dry bag can be removed literally in seconds.
Arrived at camp? Take your clothes and sleeping gear with you.
Going into a shop? Grab the bag like a tote.
Stopping for coffee? Take your valuables with you instead of unpacking the whole bike.
The cradle can stay mounted on the rack when you ride without the dry bag. Just wrap it around the rack platform, and one pocket stays on top for quick access.
Extra storage between the cradle and dry bag
One of the small but very useful advantages of this system: you can place extra items between the cradle and the dry bag.
Real-life examples:
- Camp shoes
- Tent poles
- Rain jacket
- Wet layer
- Small tarp
- Food bag
- Anything you want to keep outside the main dry bag
This gives the system more flexibility than a simple fixed rack bag.
Two quick-access side pockets
The cradle has two Ultra Stretch fabric side pockets with YKK AquaGuard zippers.
They are great for small items you want to reach quickly:
- Snacks
- Wallet
- Gloves
- Tools
- Power bank in a dry bag
- Headlamp
- Keys
- Trash from snacks
One pocket also stays usable when the cradle is wrapped around the rack without the dry bag.
What is it good for?
From our personal experience, pretty much everything.
- Bikepacking and off-road multi-day trips
Pack clothes and sleeping gear in the dry bag. Put camp shoes or tent poles between the cradle and dry bag. - Camping and picnic rides
Kitchen stuff, towels, swimming suit, food, extra layers — all easy to pack and easy to remove. - Commuting and city rides
Carry your daily things without using a backpack. - Shopping
Yes, it works great! Except maybe fresh herbs and berries — they deserve a gentler life.

Custom color option
We charge only a deposit when you choose the Custom option on our website.
Custom price = regular bag price in the chosen size and fabric + 10%
The standard PackTrain setup comes in black, but the textile parts can be customized.
This applies to the dry bag and cradle.
Fabric choice depends on the part we make. Some parts must be waterproof and seam-taped. Other parts, like the cradle, give us much more freedom with colors and patterns.
Please note that the final price may vary depending on the fabric you choose.
Dry bag options
For the dry bag and other waterproof parts, we can only use fabrics with a smooth shiny film on the inner side.
This inner film is important because it allows us to seal the seams with Ultra TNT Seam Tape from Challenge Sailcloth. If the fabric does not have the right inner film, we cannot tape it properly.
Current fabric options for taped waterproof parts:
These fabrics are a good choice when you want a light and yet strong waterproof dry bag for bikepacking.
Alternatively, it can be heavier options:
Cradle options
The cradle can be customized in a wider range of fabrics and colors.
Unlike the dry bag, the cradle does not need to be seam-taped. This gives us more freedom in material choice. We can use different colors, patterns, and heavier fabrics here.
For the cradle, we can use fabrics such as:
