Custom Frame bags
Prepayment policy
When you place an order, we’ll only charge you a prepayment, not the full price. Once the bag is ready and approved by you, we’ll request the remaining balance before shipping.
Below you will find a description of the bags we offer, prices for the base model and extra options.
In general, we offer two types of custom frame bags:
1. Water-Resistant Frame Bags:
- Material: Sewn from Ecopak, X-pac or Ultra fabrics
- Lead Time: Approximately 2-4 weeks
- Features: These bags offer excellent water protection, making them suitable for most weather conditions. While the fabrics themselves are waterproof, the sewing process leaves needle holes, obviously) That makes the bags highly water-protected, but not fully waterproof.
- For more details on this topic, check out this article on Bikepacking.com.
- The base model of a bag includes a bag with all necessary attachments, a layer of foam insulation and plastic insert all along the "Spine" for the extra stiffness
2. Fully Waterproof Frame Bags:
- Material: Glued from PVC fabric, using the same technology as for the old-style PVC boats
- Lead Time: Approximately 2-3 months
- Features: These bags are completely waterproof, ensuring your gear stays dry in all conditions.
- The "base" model of a PVC bag includes a bag itself with all necessary attachments. A fabric is tough itself and we use the two layers of a PVC fabric glued together for stiffness, so a bag holds a shape perfectl
Frame attachment options
Every custom frame bag needs the right mounting system. For us, the ideal setup combines fast installation with a clean, stable fit on the bike.
Velcro straps are still the fastest and most practical way to mount a custom frame bag. But if the top tube side of the bag is soft, the bag can still sag even when the straps are tightened properly. That happens because Velcro pulls only at specific points, not along the whole length of the bag.
A plastic reinforcement inside the Spine (the side that sits against the tubes) helps the bag hold its shape, but that alone is not always enough. If the Velcro straps are attached to a soft daisy chain sewn above the reinforcement, the daisy chain itself can flex and sag slightly under load. In that case, the connection between the straps and the rigid part of the bag is not direct, so the bag still does not sit as cleanly and firmly as it should.
That is why our latest solution is an integrated aluminium slider on the top tube side. In this design, the Velcro straps pass directly through the rigid slider built into the bag. This creates a much more direct and stable connection between the frame and the structured Spine area. The load is distributed better, the attachment stays neat, and the bag keeps a clean, straight shape without sagging.
Our default option is an aluminium slider on the top tube, with classic Velcro straps on the other tubes. In this version, we use foam in the Spine to protect both the frame and the contents of the bag.
In this version, we do not add plastic reinforcement along the Spine in order to keep the bag lighter. The aluminium slider provides rigidity exactly where it is needed for the top tube attachment, while the foam helps maintain the shape of the rest of the bag.
For the down tube and seat tube, the standard solution is Velcro straps. We can also add aluminium sliders there, but in our opinion this is usually unnecessary and may be excessive for most builds.
Another option is shock-cord lacing on the top tube or even on all frame-contact sides. Lacing looks very clean and holds the bag very securely, but it takes much longer to install and remove. With lacing, we normally add a plastic reinforcement plus foam all along the Spine, because this type of attachment works best when the entire mounting edge is rigid.
We can also make the bag fully bolt-on if the frame has enough mounting points in the correct positions.
For bolt-on bags, we use oval plastic eyelets with a 25 mm adjustment range to help fine-tune the fit during installation.
Check a Short on YouTube to see how it works.
If the bag is made with bolt-on plus lacing, we use plastic reinforcement with foam inserts. If the bag is made with bolt-on plus aluminium slider, we use foam insert only.

Fabric choice
If you ride during the whole year but manage to avoid pouring or endless rains, do not dive with your bike, and use it like a "normal" rider then Ecopak, X-pac or Ultra fabric will be the great solution for you!
These are high-tech fabric, Eco-friendly, tough and lightweight, and they look great!
If you ride under any weather conditions, in a very wet climate or planning some extreme expeditions, the most reliable choice for you is the PVC bag.
Just note, that the PVC fabric is getting too tough under the cold temperatures. So for the winter touring textile fabric will be preferable
PVC fabric is a great choice for heavy-duty jobs!
Meantime, it is not very Eco-friendly and looks “cheaper” than modern textile fabrics.
So to have the best look you might prefer a sewed "water-resistant" bag)
Regardless of the fabric you choose, we offer a wide range of colors, most of which are available in the workshop. Otherwise, we can try to order the missing colors)
Check the Fabrics & Colors page for more detailed information
PhotoFit technique
We use a PhotoFit technique for making the patterns.
So to make a bag perfectly fit your bike, we will need a really accurate picture of your bike)
Place a ruler on the top tube, half unscrew the bolts(if you would like to have the bolt-on attachments), or put the bottles in the bottle holders (for a half frame bag).
Step back 3-4 meters. Crouch down so the chainstays, seatstays, and fork appear as one. Make sure the camera is level and pointed at the centre of the frame.
Please, send this picture to our email 7Roads@7rbags.com and we will finalize everything there, after confirming all details, we’ll get to work on your custom frame bag.
